I have fond memories watching a bunch of old Flash videos; one of them being one of the Four Swords Misadventure videos.
I would recommend at least dabbling in other programs for fun. I barely knew about Blender or the UI. After following random tutorials and messing around, I've gotten comfortable w/ the UI now.
